Early last month, 20 year old Ryan Dempsey answered a casting call by Producer / Playwright Roberto Williams for the role of the Clown Prince Of Crime... THE JOKER... in the all-student stage production "FATHERS OF THE DARK KNIGHT".
During his initial interview, Mr. Dempsey demonstrated a singular wit and a sharp sense of humor that instantly impressed the producer. He spoke candidly of his background in stand-up comedy, the cathartic experience of writing his own screenplay, and even his desires to begin his own theater company.
Shortly after, as part of the second-phase of his audition, Ryan performed a dark and chilling monologue from the motion picture "Inglorious Bastards" that beautifully demonstrated his polished technique, keen instincts, and undeniable skills as an actor.
This preliminary casting session earned Mr. Dempsey an audition call-back scheduled for three weeks, during which time he further developed his interpretation of the iconic comic book villain's mannerisms and vocal inflections.
When Ryan returned for his final audition on the afternoon of Friday, June 28th, his tour-de-force script read mesmerized EVERYONE in attendance, instantly earning him the role.
Ryan now joins the production cast during weekly rehearsals as he works to develop The Joker and bring him to garish life on stage! Don't forget to read Ryan's detailed history on his FATHERS OF THE DARK KNIGHT bio page!
