From Shakespeare to Dodge in "Buried Child," Russell Mahrt's roles have shown authenticity, as well as humor and pathos. Trained by Ron Millkie in the Sanford Meisner technique, Mr. Mahrt has over twenty years of regional theater experience in the Philadelphia area. Residing in New York City since 1989, he has enjoyed success in several genres of the business.
Originally from Rochester, NY, Mr. Mahrt began his acting career at the age of 30. His impressive off-off Broadway credits include a portrayal of Francis Nurse in a production of "The Crucible," Count Orsini Rosenberg in "Amadeus" and Governor Alfred Smith in "Sunrise At Compobello".
Appearances in film and television are a part of Mr. Mahrt's accomplishments as well. In addition to being a regular face on various TV ads and infomercials during recent years, Russell has been featured both as a ghostly sea captain and as a priest in episodes of the Biography Channel series "Celebrity Ghost Stories." The Stone Phillips’ family’s production of the short film, "Juvenol" featured him in the role of Tom Somers. And earlier this year, he performed in the short films, "Ithaca" and "Goldfish."
Producer A. Jennings recently wrote, "…yours was one of the most impressive monologues I saw all day. What impressed me most…was your ability to recognize…subtler performance beats… Yours is a real talent…"
Mr. Marht now brings dignity and gravitas to his latest stage role: As the gruff, no nonsense Police Commissioner of Gotham City, Russell is currently in rehearsals for Roberto Williams' latest stage production FATHERS OF THE DARK KNIGHT.
